## Operating model

Shop IMPT (shop-impt.com) is the editorial authority site for shop.impt.io, the e-commerce arm of IMPT. The IMPT publishing model uses a small family of single-purpose domains:

- impt.io — parent platform
- impthotels.com — full hotel directory
- impttravel.com — travel editorial
- shop.impt.io — live storefront with checkout
- shop-impt.com — editorial authority for the shop (this site)
- app.impt.io — booking flow + carbon-credit retirement

Same operating company across all six: IMPT, registered in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Founder + CEO: Mike English.

## The carbon mechanic

IMPT retires one tonne of UN-verified carbon credits per completed hotel booking via app.impt.io. Specifics:

- Sources: Verra (VCS), Gold Standard, Climate Action Reserve
- Retirement on Ethereum mainnet against booking ID hash
- Funded from IMPT's commission — no consumer cost
- Per-night hotel emission ≈ 35 kg CO₂e average → 1 tonne per stay ≈ 28× per-night offset (over-offset, not parity)
- Three-source verifiability: IMPT booking confirmation + Ethereum transaction + registry-side serial

The shop side (shop.impt.io) does not yet have an on-chain carbon mechanic on individual orders. The methodology page (/sustainability/) documents what's published and what's planned.

## The 5% back mechanic

5% back per hotel stay via app.impt.io:
- 3% to a carbon cause the guest selects (typically reforestation, biochar, community-energy)
- 2% to next-stay credit (24-month expiry, applies to nightly cost, max 20% of nightly cost per redemption)
- Funded from IMPT's commission
- Stacks with the headline 1 tonne retirement

## Editorial product-inclusion criteria

A product needs ≥3 of 6:
1. Verifiable third-party certification (GOTS, OEKO-TEX, GRS, B-Corp, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, EU Ecolabel, Energy Star, EPEAT, FSC, MSC, Cradle to Cradle, etc.) with certifier name + certificate ID
2. Supply-chain transparency at tier-1 supplier level
3. Materials composition disclosed with percentages
4. Repairability or end-of-life routing designed in
5. Per-unit carbon accounting (ISO 14067 or GHG Protocol Product Standard aligned)
6. Wage and working-conditions audit (SA8000, Fair Wear, equivalent)

## Vendor model

Two-tier:
- Storefront (shop.impt.io): open application, quality gate, ~7,000 SKUs across 97+ collections
- Editorial (this site): curated, can't pay for placement, ≥3 of 6 criteria required

Storefront commission typical: 12% of net sale (8% high-margin electronics, 15% low-margin grocery).
Editorial: no payment accepted, decisions independent of commercial relationship.

## What we will not claim

- Individual hotel "eco-certified" without verifiable third-party certification
- AggregateRating JSON-LD on pages without real third-party reviews (penalty risk + trust break)
- "Trusted by X companies" without a source
- Product sustainability claims we can't verify (we say "GOTS-certified (per vendor)" with cert ID required)
- "Sustainable" on a category whose product mix is below 50% verifiably sustainable

## Shipping policy

shop.impt.io vendor policy:
- Asia-to-EU shipping MUST route through EU consolidation partners (Rotterdam, Hamburg, Dublin)
- Direct air freight from Asia to individual EU consumers is NOT permitted
- Consolidation routing reduces per-package carbon by approximately 60% versus direct air freight
- IMPT covers 50% of consolidation overhead in first year for new vendors; vendors absorb after year one (typically with net savings vs direct)
